Let’s jump into the interview!

1. Tell Us About Your Company, Imperio Consulting, and What You Do.

Imperio Consulting specializes in leadership development, team dynamics, and organizational communication. We employ a unique approach rooted in the principles of the U.S. Army Special Forces: simplicity, adaptability, and collaboration.

My goal is to help businesses navigate change, enhance team performance, and foster a culture of resilience and innovation. Whether through workshops, consulting, or e-learning programs, we deliver tailored solutions that empower teams to succeed in dynamic environments.

2. What Marketing Strategies Have You Used to Grow Your Consultancy?

I focus on building authentic relationships and leveraging word-of-mouth referrals. Most of my clients have come from networking events, industry conferences, and the trust I’ve built over decades of leadership.

In addition, creating value-driven content, such as newsletters and LinkedIn posts, has been instrumental in demonstrating expertise and staying top-of-mind with my audience.

3. What Makes a Good Leader in a Corporate Environment?

A good leader is adaptable, empathetic, and decisive. They understand the strengths of their team and create an environment where trust and collaboration thrive.

Effective leaders also communicate clearly, set the example through their actions, and aren’t afraid to pivot when circumstances demand it. Most importantly, they inspire those around them to reach their full potential.

4. What Are the Keys to Growing a Successful Team in Any Business?

The foundation of a successful team is trust and alignment. Teams succeed when every member understands the mission and how their role contributes to it. Clear communication, mutual accountability, and opportunities for professional growth ensure that individuals stay motivated and committed. I also emphasize the importance of celebrating small wins to build momentum and morale.

5. What Are the Ways You Reinvest in Your Business? (Hiring, Outsourcing, Tools, Etc.)

I reinvest in several ways, including expanding my skillset through certifications and working with experts in areas like marketing and branding. Partnering with specialists allows me to focus on my strengths while ensuring quality in other aspects of the business.

I also invest in tools that streamline operations, such as e-learning platforms and project management software.

6. Are There Any New Trends in Leadership People Should Keep In Mind?

Leadership is becoming more human-centered, with a focus on emotional intelligence and adaptability. Remote work has shifted the emphasis to building trust and culture in non-traditional settings. Leaders should also prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion—not just as buzzwords but as a business imperative for innovation and growth.

7. What Project Management or Productivity Systems Help You Remain Organized and Reach Deadlines?

I rely on tools like Google Workspace and HubSpot to manage projects and stay on track. These systems allow me to collaborate effectively with clients and manage my own workload. Discipline and simplicity in execution are critical.

8. What Have Been Your Favourite Books or Resources For Learning Leadership and Business?

Books like Grit by Angela Duckworth and Start with Why by Simon Sinek have profoundly influenced my approach to leadership. For business strategy, Traction by Gino Wickman has been invaluable. These resources align with my clarity, accountability, and purpose-driven leadership philosophy.

Bonus Questions

Let’s jump into some extra questions to learn more about Eric on a personal level.

1. What’s an Interesting Fact About You That Most People Don’t Know?

2. What’s the Best Investment You’ve Made in Your Career (Time, Money, or Energy)?

The best investment has been in people—both in my teams and the clients I work with. Whether mentoring or being mentored, the time spent cultivating relationships has yielded the highest returns personally and professionally.

3. How Do You Define Success, and Has Your Definition Changed over Time?

Success used to mean checking off milestones, but now it’s about the impact I have on others. Seeing the growth in my clients, my teams, and even my family has redefined what it means to succeed.

How Do You Like to Unwind After a Long Week?

I enjoy spending time with my family, golfing with my daughter, and reflecting on the week. A long hike helps me reset and prepare for the challenges ahead.
