Do you know what your purpose in life is?

If not, don’t worry. Most people don’t. It’s something that can be quite difficult to figure out.

But, it’s worth taking the time to do so because once you find your purpose, everything becomes a lot easier.

Otherwise, you might find that you feel unfilled or unhappy in many areas of your life.

In fact, 50% of workers dislike their job and I believe it has to do with not having a purpose or mission, thus going into the wrong field.

In this blog post, I will discuss what purpose is and how to find it. I’ll also talk about the benefits of living a life with purpose and how to make the most out of it!

What is purpose?

Most people go through life without really knowing what their purpose is. They do things because they have to, or because it’s what’s expected of them, but they don’t necessarily have a sense of why they’re doing it. As a result, life can feel quite meaningless and directionless.

So what is purpose? Put simply, your purpose is the reason why you exist. It’s the thing that gives your life meaning and makes you unique. Everyone has their own individual purpose – there’s no one-size-fits-all answer.

Your purpose can be something big or small, grandiose or mundane. It doesn’t matter how big or significant it is, as long as it matters to you. And it doesn’t have to be something that you’ve always known, it can be something that you discover as you go through life.

Purpose is what motivates you and drives you to do things. It’s what makes you want to get out of bed in the morning and face the day. When you have a sense of purpose, life feels more worthwhile and enjoyable. You know that there’s a reason for everything that you’re doing, even if it’s just small or everyday tasks.

How to find your purpose in life

These are actionable steps you can take to find your purpose in life and enjoy it more as a result!

Reflect on your strengths and weaknesses

One of the best ways to start finding your purpose is to take some time to reflect on your strengths and weaknesses. What are you good at? What do you enjoy doing? What do you find difficult?

Answering these questions can help give you some clues about what your purpose might be. For example, if you’re good at problem-solving, maybe your purpose is to help others solve their problems. If you enjoy spending time with people, maybe your purpose is to connect with others and build relationships.

Think about what comes naturally to you and what feels like a struggle. These things can help point you in the right direction!

Take some time for yourself

It can be tough to figure out your purpose in life if you’re constantly on the go and don’t have any time to yourself. That’s why it’s important to take some time for yourself even if it’s just a few minutes a day.

It’s been found that 40% of what contributes to happiness is intentional action. A.K.A making time to relax and pursue what brings you joy.

What determines happiness

Meditation, journaling, and spending time in nature are all great ways to relax and clear your mind. When you’re feeling calm and relaxed, it’s easier to listen to your intuition and get in touch with what really matters to you.

Pay attention to your dreams and desires

Another way to find your purpose is to pay attention to your dreams and desires. What do you want out of life? What are your goals? What makes you happy?

Your dreams and desires can be a great clue about what your purpose is. For example, if you’ve always dreamed of travelling the world, maybe your purpose is to explore and experience new cultures. If you’re passionate about helping others, maybe your purpose is to make a difference in the world.

For example, I’ve always loved business and want to be an entrepreneur since I was a little kid.

I’m talking about opening lemonade stands, selling trading cards, you name it…

Then, I got into internet marketing when I was a teenager and the rest is history.

The point is that I knew from a young age that I was passionate about working for myself, fitness, self-development, and business. And, I stuck to it no matter what.

You can too.

Develop a growth mindset

One of the best things you can do to find your purpose is to develop a growth mindset. A growth mindset is the belief that you can always grow and improve, no matter what.

When you have a growth mindset, you’re not afraid of failure. You see it as an opportunity to learn and grow. You’re always looking for new challenges to push yourself further.

Developing a growth mindset will help you take action even when you’re not sure what your purpose is. Because instead of being afraid of failure, you’ll see it as an opportunity to learn and grow. And eventually, through trial and error, you’ll figure out what your purpose is.

Don’t let failure hold you back

Failure is a part of life, but it doesn’t have to hold you back. 90% of businesses fail but that doesn’t stop them from launching new companies or products and winning.

How often businesses fail

If you’ve been struggling to find your purpose, don’t give up! Keep trying new things and pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. The more you try, the closer you’ll get to finding your purpose.

And remember, even if you don’t know what your purpose is yet, that’s okay! You can still live a happy and fulfilling life. Just focus on enjoying the journey and growing along the way.

Don’t look at it as you win or you lose, look at it as you win or you learn.

Every failure is one more step in the right direction and there’s wisdom in everything you experience.

That brings me to my next point.

Get out of your comfort zone

If you want to find your purpose, you need to get out of your comfort zone. Trying new things is the only way to discover what you’re really passionate about.

So go out and explore! Try new hobbies, travel to new places, meet new people. The more you experience, the more likely you are to find something that sparks your passion and gives you a sense of purpose.

What are some things you’ve always wanted to try? What are some places you’ve always wanted to visit? Make a list and start ticking them off!

You never know, your purpose might be waiting for you on the other side of your comfort zone.

Spend time with winners

One of the hardest lessons I’ve learned in finding my purpose as a man is that you need to be very strict about who you associate with.

Your friends and people around you can very easily hold you back from success and make you unhappy.

Unfortunately, that may mean taking space away from people you’ve known for a long time.

Oppositely you want to be around people that motivate you, bring you peace, and lift you up.

You want to find friends that are chasing their dreams and becoming the best version of themselves.

These are people you want to associate with because they will constantly remind you of what’s possible.

Spending time with these types of people is one of the quickest ways to find your purpose in life.

It’ll be hard at first, but eventually, it’ll become natural for you to gravitate towards winners. And when you do, your life will change for the better.

Practice gratitude

Every morning and evening, I read a list of everything I’m grateful for.

This includes my health, businesses, family, friends, dogs, and happiness.

It’s easy to get caught in the grind and not realize how great life really is.

Even the littlest of things you can be grateful for like having a cup of coffee, reading a book, and getting a compliment.

As a matter of fact, having a daily gratitude journal can noticeably increase your happiness.

Gratitude and happiness

Gratitude is an important habit to develop because it allows you to see the good in your life, even when things are tough.

And when you can see the good, it’s easier to find your purpose and chase your dreams.

So start each day by practicing gratitude and watch as your life starts to change for the better.

Give back to the community

One of the most fulfilling things you can do in life is give back.

I highly recommend discovering a way to give back to the community and earth like:

  • Volunteering.
  • Giving gifts to people.
  • Planting trees.
  • Cleaning up parks.
  • Offering advice to friends and family.
  • Being a Big Brother or Big Sister.
  • Etc.

The list goes on and on, but you get the idea.

When you give back, it not only makes the world a better place, but it also feels really good.

It’s a great way to find purpose in life because you’re not only helping others, but you’re also making a difference.

And that’s what life is all about, making a difference.

So if you’re struggling to find your purpose, try giving back and see how it makes you feel. I guarantee you’ll be surprised by how good it feels to help others. And who knows? Maybe your purpose will be staring you right in the face.

Try different hobbies

Who says your purpose can’t be related to a passion?

I make a living doing marketing and teaching self-development and you know what? I love it more than anything!

It’s fulfilling, fun, and exciting.

The best part is these things relate to things I genuinely enjoy.

That’s why trying different hobbies can help you uncover what your purpose in life is.

You might find that you enjoy painting, hiking, biking, cooking, or any number of things.

The key is to keep trying until you find something that sticks.

And when you do, your purpose will start to become more clear.

So get out there and try different hobbies until you find one that ignites a passion in you.
